UPDATE

I have stopped selling my cakes and creations for the time being to spend more quality time with my growing family. Whenever I need a creative outlet, a cake or two might emerge!

Enjoy the photos though!

Children's Favourite Characters

This is going to be a longer post than usual as I'm posting about my son's birthday cake.

This Cookie Monster Sesame Street Book is one of his favourite books.  It reads as follows:

C is for Cookie.
COOOOKIES! COOOOKIES! Best things to eat.
Chocolate cupcakes are also a treat.
Carrots taste good. Me like that crunch.
Corn on the cob makes very nice lunch.
Cucumbers are cool -- me can't get enough.
Cauliflower! Cabbages! Me LOVE that stuff!
Cookie Monster's crazy about cantaloupe, too.
Caramel is good but very hard to chew.
All these things delicious, but cookie's still the best.
Me give you one of the these and then me eat the rest.
Wasn't that fun? Thanks for eating with me.
And now that food's all gone...
Let's eat the letter C!!!

That's his favourite part of the book.  So ........that's what he got as his birthday cake.

And since mummy does fondant figurines as a hobby business, he gets other cartoon characters too.  A close up of Mickey and Minnie Mouse.
Winnie the Pooh and Tigger (in their toddler years just like my son)

He also loves Blue in Blue's Clues but Blue got damaged before he got onto the cake.  Here's a photo of him alone.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KEITH!

Fondant Gymnast

My sister recently ordered 60 cupcakes for my niece's birthday.  Since my niece is into gymrama, I made a fondant gymnast doing a perfect split on the cupcake.  And, yes, of course my sister got a huge discount.  :  )

There are just 24 gymnast here.  I delivered the rest the day before and didn't manage to take a photo.

P.S. Sorry the photo is so bad, this photo was taken at night using flash.

Happy Birthday Dad and Mum!

We recently celebrated my parents' birthday and being the baker in the family, it fell to me to make a cake for them.  As their birthdays are only one week apart, I did a cake representing both their hobbies.
I tried a new recipe; carrot cake with cream cheese frosting.  As you can clearly see, I'm not that skilled in frosting cakes yet. I usually make unfrosted cakes or fondant covered cakes.

Anyway, my dad's hobby is gardening. He is actually very good in growing roses. Why did I make Fred Flintstone to represent dad?  Hee! Hee! I can't tell, it's a family joke.
My mum's favorite hobby is watching ...... ASTRO!  Notice the Astro controller firmly in her hand?!  She has Marge Simpson's hairstyle (not so extreme though) and she loves wearing pants so unfortunately, it looks a little bit like a man.  I had to include some flowers to highlight that it's actually a woman.
Happy Birthday Dad and Mum!
