UPDATE

I have stopped selling my cakes and creations for the time being to spend more quality time with my growing family. Whenever I need a creative outlet, a cake or two might emerge!

Enjoy the photos though!

Keith's 4th Birthday Cake

I took a long break from fondant making/decorating. I only started it for my dear son's birthday!!!!

We decided to make a train with carriages to share with his classmates.

I tried to include all his favourite characters.

First of all, a TRAIN!!!! He loves trains.  Whenever he gets the opportunity, he will ride a train.  Sometimes on his school break, he will ask his Ah Kong (grandfather) to bring him out and they will take trains the whole day long!!!  His Ah Kong is very nice to him and will try to let him ride all the different trains/lines; KTM Komuter, Kelana Jaya Line LRT, Ampang Line Starline and the KL Monorail.

The different views of his train cake. (Sorry the photos are not very nice or clear!)

A peek of the birthday boy peeking at his cake.

A close up of all his favourite characters; Elmo and Cookie Monster.

Of course...... the pigs from Angry Birds!

Larry and Bob from Veggie Tales (further in the background on the yellow train carriage. Larry is poking his head out from the carriage)

I didn't manage to take a close up picture of the Yellow Bird and it's nest from Angry Birds. But it's there in the background.

A different view of the Yellow Bird and a close up of the Red Bird from Angry Birds.

P.S. I've got to continue working with fondant.  A long break doesn't make for beautiful characters or fine work!!! Sigh!

Just Two Dogs

Our neighbour 'doggy-sat' our dog while we were away.  I made a simple cake to thank them.

It's tiresome trying to replicate real life characters.   I made fondant dogs to replicate those real life dogs.  Unfortunately, both dogs look so plain.  Theirs is a larger brown dog and ours is a small black dog.  Yes, both are completely toneless, just one colour per dog! Sigh!

Children's Favourite Characters

This is going to be a longer post than usual as I'm posting about my son's birthday cake.

This Cookie Monster Sesame Street Book is one of his favourite books.  It reads as follows:

C is for Cookie.
COOOOKIES! COOOOKIES! Best things to eat.
Chocolate cupcakes are also a treat.
Carrots taste good. Me like that crunch.
Corn on the cob makes very nice lunch.
Cucumbers are cool -- me can't get enough.
Cauliflower! Cabbages! Me LOVE that stuff!
Cookie Monster's crazy about cantaloupe, too.
Caramel is good but very hard to chew.
All these things delicious, but cookie's still the best.
Me give you one of the these and then me eat the rest.
Wasn't that fun? Thanks for eating with me.
And now that food's all gone...
Let's eat the letter C!!!

That's his favourite part of the book.  So ........that's what he got as his birthday cake.

And since mummy does fondant figurines as a hobby business, he gets other cartoon characters too.  A close up of Mickey and Minnie Mouse.
Winnie the Pooh and Tigger (in their toddler years just like my son)

He also loves Blue in Blue's Clues but Blue got damaged before he got onto the cake.  Here's a photo of him alone.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KEITH!

Choo Choo!

Yes, I know it's corny to describe a train as 'choo choo' but this post is after all about a cake for a 1 year old boy.  And most people teach kids that trains are choo choo trains.  Do trains still make the choo choo sound now that it's running on electricity (LRT/Komuter) or diesel (KTM Berhad)?

Anyway, a client recently ordered this cake for her son's one year old birthday party.

Fondant Gymnast

My sister recently ordered 60 cupcakes for my niece's birthday.  Since my niece is into gymrama, I made a fondant gymnast doing a perfect split on the cupcake.  And, yes, of course my sister got a huge discount.  :  )

There are just 24 gymnast here.  I delivered the rest the day before and didn't manage to take a photo.

P.S. Sorry the photo is so bad, this photo was taken at night using flash.
